Carlos Almeida Carneiro
Born and raised in Lisbon, I am a professional traveler fascinated in exploring
the simpler side of life - the neighborhood, the people, our daily life or nature.
I have cycled from Lisbon to Dakar, lived 2 years on an isolated mountain in
Iceland, worked in a sausage factory in London, visited 90 countries, and walked
15 days in the North of Portugal alone with a donkey named Lisota.
My biggest adventure was going around Africa with my father, a retired 70-year-
old engineer who had never camped. We visited 27 countries in a year in a very old Renault 4L.
Of these experiences I wrote 3 travel books. I have been an adventure guide for a
decade in the Caucasus, Central America, Ethiopia and Morocco, and have done alternative hikes in Lisbon for 4 years.
My goal is to take you on a different and immersive adventure in a wondrous
side of Lisbon that exists beyond tourist maps.
